April's New Moon Divination - Let it flow!

April 27, 2025 – New Moon

Note: New Moon Divination is migrating to the blog this year. Subscribers will still get first view via email for each new moon; everyone else will have access a few days later (probably about a week). I'm not making edits to the messaging with the time differences, though, so buckle in for what might feel like time travel...grammatically, anyway.

Hello, friends – It’s really exciting to communicate with more of you with these messages, but a growing subscriber list means I have less personal knowledge of you as individuals with your own experiences. I try not to assume we all have the same context for these readings. That said, this one really seems to be addressing the State of the States, here and now. Your mileage may vary. :) Let's begin.

  1. Overall Theme: Spindle, for community, preparation, and supporting mutual needs. Taking action can transform the energy of fear into purpose. The spindle is a metaphor for using our talents to create safety, shelter, and care for those within our circles. The world needs all of us, with our infinite variety of gifts.

  1. Potential & Allies: Holly, for precision, balance, and justice. Holly is another working tool. Maybe it’s a scalpel; it doesn’t have to be a sword, though there are similar correspondences with air. These days, uncertainty and injustice definitely call up some darker urges within me. But I find there is more peace in my spirit when I can pass my actions through the Three Gates (with a hat-tip to Steven Barnes): Is it True? Is it Kind? Is it Useful? Sometimes, I even think about what Craig Ferguson said in his standup:

Does this need to be said?

Does this need to be said NOW?

Does this need to be said now, by ME?

  1. Static & Obstacles: Vine, for celebrating something completed successfully. I think this is a caution against thinking any single thing can change it all, whatever it “all” is for you. Aha, we’ve fixed racism because a Black man was President. There, we’ve fixed sexism because I can get a credit card all by myself. You see where I’m going with this? Certainly, the work changes as we make progress, and celebrating progress along the way is critical, but that doesn’t mean the work ends.

  1. Letting Go: Oak, for certainty and doing things the established way (also masculinity). I spent a LOT of years learning how to work within the power structures we have in the US. I had a script for getting through most situations, much like somebody who has memorized all the actions for the first seven levels of a video game. But that’s all changing now. What used to work, doesn’t work anymore. And what does work? Well, maybe it wasn’t really meant to be a system that helped me anyway? The way we’ve always done things just keeps things the way they’ve always been. Which means a bunch of people hoard power – an absolute crime against Divine Masculinity. I am learning to ask myself, “what is this structure supporting and how is it meant to help or harm?” That helps me decide whether to respect the legacy pattern or to disrupt it.

  1. Helping Grow: Willow, for adaptability and intuition (also femininity). It was BONKERS to see Willow show up in this position, because it’s very much a contrasting energy to Oak. Willow is about tapping into the flow and letting yourself bend so you don’t break. So much is changing around us these days. This ogham asks you to let change happen within yourself too. Let the world MOVE you, let it make you weep. And then you make the magic.

What else would you like to see from these new moon divinations? Let me know!

Brightest blessings.

Nicole
