New Moon Divination in November (the first one, anyway)

Hello – I am so happy to have worked this ritual today instead of last night. Thanks for rolling with the flow, with me. I hope this divination is just as helpful to you this evening as it would have been first thing in the morning. Before I get into the reading, though, I have a few questions I could really use YOUR read on:

Do you want the New Moon Divination series to continue into 2025?

Does the layout work for your reflections?

Is there anything specific (or just more) that you’d like to see from me in 2025?

Right now, we’re entering a month featuring an election that feels like a fixed point on the timeline (to put it as neutrally as possible), the start of the commercial holiday season, and two new moons. I got some interesting stuff in today’s reading, including double placements when that’s a thing I try to avoid AND a couple in spots unusual enough that I went to look things up.

  1. Overall Theme: Oak and Rowan, holding strength and protection. I make some effort not to have two ogham in any single position, but these two were stuck-stuck. Here, Oak feels like history and foundations taking a long time to build. Rowan is protection against unseen forces, whether we know what those are or not. Together, Oak and Rowan remind us to consider what we feel solid about and to lean on that. Steadiness will let your protections work for you.

  2. Potential & Allies: Ash, shifting forms and your own inner voice. I’ve heard that the cells in our bodies renew every seven years or so. We’re constantly re-inventing ourselves; Ash simply asks us to do it on purpose. In what ways could you shift your perception of self – your capabilities, your habits, your default reactions – to meet the challenges ahead? You are your own best ally.

  3. Static & Obstacles: Alder, for guidance or influence from others. On the heels of Ash as an ally, Alder makes sense as opposition. Well-meaning or not, the voices of others can make it difficult to hear our own. Mastermind groups and sounding boards are important, but not more important than your own trust in and knowledge of yourself. Stay in the driver’s seat.

  4. Letting Go: Broom, keeping us busy with…well, busywork. Broom is one of my favorites. I love being told to sweep, to chop wood and carry water. It’s simple. It FEELS like meaningful, effective stuff. In this position? Not so much. When I lived in Germany, there was a phenomenon we called “the moving hole.” When utility crews worked, they never tore up the whole street. They’d very neatly create a hole about 10’x10’, do the work, cover it up, and then dig another hole about 50 meters down the road. We could see the tracks, like they’d dragged it? Broom is warning us not to do that. Don’t worry about whether your essential work is going to inconvenience anybody. Don’t keep moving the work down the road.

  5. Helping Grow: Elder and Maple, for settling accounts and remaining grounded. If you’re going to be your own best ally, then you’re better off telling yourself the truth. With Maple, a modifier for Land, Elder reads less about shame and more about personal accountability. Time to roll against fortitude, friends.

Whatever happens next week, may all the Powers keep you safe. Until next time…

Brightest blessings,

Nicole
