Ogham Tuesday: Star

Crowning the set of three modifiers is Star. If Mountain represents connection to the Earth Mother and all that has happened before, then Star represents our connection to Inspiration and all the things that might be.

When I see the Star modifier, I know it’s time to elevate my perception and seek guidance from the collective unconscious. It carries an energy of readiness to catch the solar wind in my sails and fly to galaxies unknown. Where Mountain is an anchor, Star is an antenna. Though I haven’t pulled Star in a reading recently enough to use it as an example here, here’s a piece of a guided meditation that calls upon the power of Star (with references to the goddess Arianrhod): 

Arianrhod’s silver wheel dips into the sea, droplets of water falling onto its spokes like piano keys, its music calling us like lovers. Each of us in our own time rides this pale curve upward, to where the moon can love us up close.  

Up here, the heavens ring. Across vast, airless expanses, gravitational waves echo the movement of planets and supernovas carry the swan songs of the stars that died in their creation.  

Up here, your sense of self expands. You can see patterns laid out by the Goddess of Whirling Stars, tracing immense distances. This labyrinth is galactic…and expanding. Spirals within spirals within spirals, always forward. 

Planets moving in retrograde are still sprinting forward in their trips ‘round the sun; it’s just our earthly perspective that says their path is backward. Trust that all heavenly bodies know what they’re up to, yours included. 

You’ve absorbed the impact of asteroids that couldn’t knock you off your path. You’ve watched out of the corner of your eye for the comets that never fail in their promise to return. Even now, I bet you’re trailing some moons of your own, adoring and constant. You’re waltzing with Arianrhod, the Gracious Initiatrix, across a dozen gravitational slingshots.  

And how, we ask, do we find the center when everything is always expanding away from us? My loves, the Silver Lady sings into the darkness, remember your crown. You are sovereign. You are infinite. You are both the spire and the heavens. You ARE the center, spinning out possibilities made of stardust.

• Sometimes, the magic is in the thing you haven’t tried yet. 

Cautions and questions might be:

• What limits you? What lifts you?

• What is the measure of your own orbit and influence?

• What will you use gravity to keep? What will you release to fuel the sun? What quantum entanglements will you incite or consent to?
