Ogham Tuesday: White Poplar

White Poplar is an ogham that, while not used as frequently as the first twenty, is still attested as part of the traditional letters. If you are a linguist, White Poplar is a dipthong (the EA or CH sound, to be specific). Most of the other letters before this have been singular vowels or consonant sounds. I’m not a linguist, so that’s as far as I can take the explanation.
White Poplar asks us to see into the distance, casting our awareness over the smaller details that often loom larger in our imagination. Adding this buoyancy lets us see ourselves as part of a bigger picture and consider alternate pathways.
Where do you see your next opportunities for rest or gathering resources? When might you cross paths with allies? What obstacles can be managed if you start planning for them now? Does your journey leave some space for delight and discovery?
This day and every day, may your paths be clear and your maps be accurate.
The Ogham Tuesday series started in 2023 and focused first on introducing each of the standard ogham alphabet in order. We're moving those posts to the blog now, so they can be more easily searched.
