Ogham Tuesday: Yew

As the last of the most common family of ogham, Yew symbolizes not only endings, but also the liminal space between an ending and a new beginning (until the point where Birch picks up the start of a new mega-cycle). Imagine a tunnel one passes through, after exiting one place but before entering the next place. That’s Yew.

When I see Yew in a reading, it often reminds me that I can’t carry all of the old cycle with me, if I want to enter a new cycle with the clearest possible path to my goals. Eye of the needle, and all that.

What is encumbering you right now? Can you achieve your goals while carrying all of everything with you? What do you need to STOP being or doing, in order to achieve your next evolution on the other side of this gateway? How ready are you to receive new information and experiences?

May we all step forward with joy, service, and gratitude – and fulfill our highest purpose.

The Ogham Tuesday series started in 2023 and focused first on introducing each of the standard ogham alphabet in order. We're moving those posts to the blog now, so they can be more easily searched.
