New Moon Divination in December

Before I dig into the final New Moon Divination of 2024, I want to thank you for being part of this year’s work. Sharing readings outside of a high holiday context is still pretty new to me, and I’m delighted to learn that I really enjoy it. Please keep questions and comments coming – they make a big difference in how I’ll carry this tradition into next year!

With today’s divination, I asked for a bigger picture and WOW did the ogham answer:

  1. Overall Theme: Elder, for quitting the bullshit. Sometimes we aren’t telling ourselves the truth, and real change has to be built on knowing the truth – not only about ourselves, but also about what we want and feel capable of. It starts with the Self and expands into community and service. Start fresh by refusing anybody’s nonsense.

  2. Potential & Allies: Apple, for health and healing and especially choices. With the wisdom of Elder, we can clarify first what matters and what does not. In nature, an apple tree needs to be pruned so air and sunshine can reach the fruit that’s ripening, and in tending to an apple orchard we’ll sometimes need to remove blooms from a tree so that each fruit can be nourished properly. We can’t carry everything forward and take care of it all. How does the saying go? If everything is a priority, then nothing is a priority.

  3. Static & Obstacles: Heather, for relationships and harmony. I was a little confused to see Heather in this position, until I remembered that none of us is self-made. We all rely on community and connection, but take care not to stay where you aren’t welcome. If we are the average of the five people we spend the most time with, then how much growth is possible if we don’t get intentional about the environments where we expect to thrive? Lasting harmony doesn’t happen by accident, so let the wisdom of Apple help you choose the relationships that will carry you forward.

  4. Letting Go: Hazel, for enlightenment and deep knowing. I think this is a warning against “analysis paralysis.” At a certain point, waiting for more insight is going to cost us opportunity. Hazel isn’t asking us to NOT think…just not to OVERthink. With the wisdom of Heather, cultivate a community of like-minded people whose wisdom you can trust where it exceeds your own, then get out of your head and take action.

  5. Helping Grow: Ivy, for celebration and a job well done. Here, Ivy is a reminder to bask a little bit in every success. You have to train your brain to see success, because we have a tendency to zero in on failure instead. I think Ivy also celebrates a job DONE, when we don’t let perfection keep us from starting.

There’s a lot ahead in 2025. I hope these insights can continue to help us all make sense of ourselves and the world around us. May the Powers hold and help you today and every day!

Brightest blessings.

Nicole

P.S. Starting in January, the New Moon Divination will be going up on the blog about a week after subscribers receive it. I hope this shift to “subscribers first” instead of “subscribers only” is a better reflection of my desire to share ogham with as many people as possible.
