If you're a subscriber, you saw this way back in January! I'm starting to transfer New Moon Divination to the blog, for easier archiving and searchability over time. You'll see a few notifications as we move everything and I hope it won't be too awkward that I am NOT editing anything.
Starting in 2025, New Moon Divination will be for subscribers first (instead of the current subscribers-only situation). But now you'll be able to access and search past months for your own "reflect and review" sessions. Thank you for being part of this growing practice!
Welcome! Since this is the first time I’m doing New Moon Divination for you all, I took today’s reading not only as an omen for the next month, but also as confirmation that the logic of the layout provides a useful narrative.
I expect to refine this work over time, as we all learn together what feels most meaningful. For now, though, I hope you’ll find some wisdom to carry you through this lunar cycle. Inhale, exhale, keep moving forward.

Overall Theme: Pine. As a tree that usually grows out the top of a forest canopy, Pine supports far-seeing efforts and getting the big picture. Take this month to do some full-circle assessment of your current position and options, especially those that are not right in front of you right now.
Potential: Birch, for new beginnings and starting over. You’ve got a clean slate right now, at the start of the new calendar year and the lunar cycle. Whatever is going to happen, it hasn’t quite begun yet. Things are resting beneath the snow, waiting for warmth and light. Allies who are on a similar journey of renewal could make great companions.
Static & Obstacles: Yew. As the final ogham in the standard alphabet, Yew calls for patience while we are “in between.” Waiting can be hard, when we just want to get going. But connected to Pine (above), it’s a good time to take your time. Don’t just start expending energy for the sake of doing something.
Letting Go: White Poplar, another very tall tree, is about buoyancy and floating above our problems. Its position here is a push to get down to earth again. Get ready to get deeply involved in your own priorities.
Helping Grow: Ivy, for tenacity and persistence. Sustainable growth rarely happens in an instant. Even if you’re just making tiny steps of progress each day, stick with it and keep yourself honest about the effort. You might be surprised how far you can go in just one lunar cycle.
I’d be so delighted to hear of your experiences with this process as we go through the year! If you share any of your results on social media, please feel free to tag Nine Fires Press.
Thank you for your trust…I wish you all every joy and success.
Brightest blessings,
Nicole
P.S. Please let me know if you need me to re-send the guide to this layout. We’ll also place an illustration of it in the Resource Library for easy download!
