New Moon Divination: March 10, 2024

Hello, and welcome to your new moon divination for March! It’s a big month coming up: daylight savings time will make us spring forward (yuck) and we’ll celebrate the Spring Equinox soon. False spring might even give way to real spring in the next few weeks (knock on wood)!

  1. Overall Theme: Aspen, both for fear and conquest of that fear. Aspen is a tree that trembles in the wind but it’s also an excellent material for making shields. I see this particular ogham as having air correspondences, so it’s also about communication and connection.

  2. Potential & Allies: Vine, for harvest and completion. In this position, Vine shows us the potential of celebrating a difficult job, done well. Vine carries an element of prophecy, but it’s no mystery that putting in the work is the first part of predicting success. Since harvest is a community effort, it could also be signaling the importance of connecting and communicating with like-minded allies.

  3. Static & Obstacles: Holly, another ogham with correspondences to air, is about choices and balance. Cut through the static and make sure you’re unencumbered by unhelpful practices or patterns as you move forward. Given the previous two ogham here, I’d say an inclination to take on all the work yourself or not to speak of your hopes and fears with your circle of allies would be important to carve away.

  4. Letting Go: Ash, for transformation (from outside sources) and fate. What I think this ogham is getting at, in the “letting go” position, is a tendency to think that outside forces will trump earnest effort and free will. Not so. Hold fast to your will to manifest your own unique future.

  5. Helping Grow: White Poplar, a third ogham with correspondences to air, showed up in “static & obstacles” in February and “letting go” in January. Three appearances is a pretty big deal and I think this ogham’s movement through positions is significant. White Poplar’s buoyancy references back to Holly this month, because you’ll only reach altitude if you are able to let go of ballast holding you down. (For me, it also speaks to the conquest of fear that Aspen signifies, since I’m scared of heights and tend to struggle with air as an element.) If nothing were holding you back or tangling your feet, where would you go? If you had companions to help and hold you, how far could you reach?

I sense the big question for this coming month is: If you knew everything would work out, what would you do next?

Brightest blessings,

Nicole

P.S. The next new moon on April 8 is the same day we’ll see an eclipse here. I’m not an astrologist but that feels like Big Energy. I hope you’re able to safely observe some of this phenomenon and feel some of that energy wherever you are!
