New Moon Divination: May 7, 2024

Hello, and welcome to a divination with an Odd Occurrence: two of the same ogham in one reading! I’ve used this set for YEARS and never knew I had a duplicate, so we’re going to treat it as Significant. 

We’re entering a season when cycles are running high. Whether it’s rainfall and weather, nature starting to burst into flower, or even our own earthly desires, our realm is turned UP right now with no sign of slowing down soon. 

1. Overall Theme: Bird/Cherry, the modifier for air. Modifiers become adjectives for all the other ogham in a reading. It’s an appropriate time of the year to have birds and cherry blossoms on the brain, though. There’s a lot floating around right now, whether it’s pollen or inspiration!

2. Potential & Allies: Heather, for healing, harmony, and home life. This ogham indicates now is the time to nurture existing partnerships or welcome new ones. It can be a symbol for the Lovers but, with an air modifier on the board, I’d lean more toward connections with people who share similar ideas. 

3. Static & Obstacles: Heather, again. I definitely did a double-take when I saw this repeat. Its position in both allies and obstacles reminds me of the dynamic relationship between personal and shared objectives. In conjunction with the air modifier, it’s a warning not to pull harder on a relationship than your history or situation supports. I suspect there is also a call not to hold tightly to our notions of what somebody else might want or need. Keep a light touch here. 

4. Letting Go: Witch Hazel, for magic and hidden knowledge. This is another of the less traditional ogham. Witch Hazel is a good reminder that the voices in our heads aren’t US. I suspect I’m not alone in having grown up in an environment filled with some pretty unhelpful assumptions. If an idea was implanted without our permission or in opposition to our goals, then we need to let the fresh air blow it away. 

5. Helping Grow: Vine, for accomplishment and celebration. We’re entering a season of festivals. Perhaps there’s something you’ve been cultivating for months and now it’s starting to flower. You’re doing great, sweetie. Keep feeding that work so you can get the most out of your harvest!
