Ogham Tuesday: Wave

Ogham Tuesday: Wave

This glyph looks a little like a sine wave, doesn’t it? I love that. Waves travel; they’re not fixed. Mutability is one of the essential qualities of Wave.

When I see the modifier for the Sea, it’s a reminder to consider what’s under the surface, to value adaptation, and to wonder what I might embrace. Not long ago, I got Wave in a reading when I asked for extra clarification. First, I pulled these two at the same time:

Blackthorn, for obstacles and caution. A protective shield, as long as you stay inside.

Birch, for beginnings. A new approach and those early, small steps toward a goal.

But if I’m supposed to avoid tangling with the Blackthorn, how am I to take steps today?

Wave, reminding me to follow my flow instead of insisting on a path. Make a phase shift – be vapor, and pass through the thorns untouched.

Keywords for Wave include: mutable, community, emotion, shared, adapt, song, expanded, explore, depth, travel, horizon, bend, well, swell, ebb, flow, crash, cauldron

Guidance might be:

  • Consider a change of phase (yielding instead of insistent, listening instead of talking).

  • Seek the company of people who share your values.

  • Have faith in your intuition.

Cautions and questions might be:

  • How are my emotions magnifying or dampening my perceptions?

  • What can I reshape with steady attention over time?

  • Where are the edges of my own wisdom? Can I adapt to new information?

What connections do you see?

Blessings,

Nicole
